Inkscape can render primitive vector shapes (e.g. Inkscape's primary vector graphics format is Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG), however many other formats can be imported and exported. Inkscape is the best in my opinion and probably always will be. Inkscape is a free and open-source vector graphics editor it can be used to create or edit vector graphics such as illustrations, diagrams, line arts, charts, logos and complex paintings. So if you want a FREE, extremely powerful SVG graphics editor, you need look no further. It is a learning curve to be able to use it but well worth the effort after you do. Inkscape is a powerful editor for working with the SVG (Scalable Vector Graphics) format. Believe me, the "what you can do list" is far too numerous to type here, you simply have to read some tutorials and try it. png with Inkscape, has 3-d box creation among MANY MANY other options and effects, even text. I believe Photoshop has this ability but I don't use it, can't afford it so Inkscape is part of my main graphics collection of Blender, Gimp and Inkscape, pretty much accomplish anything that needs to be done and all free. Scalable vector graphics (SVG) yes, it's a scalable image or (XML)file format. For those who don't know what this is capable of, I suggest browsing around for things made in Inkscape, read tutorials and such and find out just what you can do with this great SVG editor. Inkscape is also open source, but its a vector application, capable of handling vector graphics along the same lines as Adobe Illustrator or Affinity Designer. I've been using Inkscape since (I believe) it came out, or close.
